SAN FERNANDO City, Oct.15 (PIA) -- Through the issuance of Executive Order No. 2020-58 on Tuesday, the local government unit (LGU) of Naguilian prohibits videoke sessions or any noise-producing activities on school days from Mondays to Saturdays effective Oct. 19.
This pronouncement is in compliance with the directive of the Department of the Interior and Local Government urging LGUs to enact ordinances banning videoke and any other sounds that may disrupt learners who are now coping with the blended learning system.
"Disturbing noises during online class hours and independent study periods can surely distract learners from concentrating on their lessons and other school activities," Mayor Nieri Flores said.
She further stated that, "With this, strict measures must be observed so students can focus on their online classes, especially during this pandemic."
Other forms of disturbing sounds include blow of horns, very loud music, and mufflers of motorcycles.
Videoke will only be allowed during Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Moreover, the LGU imposes permits for the conduct of mass gatherings such as weddings, birthdays, wakes and all others. Residents will have to secure permits of the events from their village chairpersons.
Drinking sprees during the said activities are not allowed.
Meanwhile, said EO also includes clauses which prohibit illegal gambling operations such as tong-its, bingo, or majhong, and any other betting sessions. (JCR/JPD/CGC, PIA La Union)
